Nancy Prendergast, MD, is a highly regarded radiologist at University Radiology Group, specializing in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Imaging and Body MRI. With a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Prendergast brings a wealth of clinical expertise to the faculty, currently serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Dr. Prendergast’s clinical focus is centered on the advanced diagnostic evaluation of orthopedic and sports-related conditions. Her subspecialty training in both MSK and Body Imaging allows her to provide comprehensive interpretations of complex joint, spine, and soft tissue pathology. She has contributed to the field through clinical research, including notable work on stress injuries in overhead athletes, and is recognized by her peers for her diagnostic acumen in high-resolution MRI.
Her commitment to excellence in radiology has been recognized on the international stage. In 2022, Dr. Prendergast was honored with the Resnick MSK Quiz Award at the Imaging in Dublin conference—a prestigious recognition presented by MSK pioneer Dr. Donald Resnick for exceptional performance in case-based interpretation. She continues to be an active voice in the global radiology community, serving as faculty speaker for the international CME program - Imaging in Greece 2025.
Dr. Prendergast’s academic foundation began at Brown University, where she earned both her undergraduate degree in Biology and her Medical Degree. She completed her internship in General Surgery and her residency in Radiology at New York University (NYU) Medical Center, followed by dual fellowships at NYU in Body Imaging and Musculoskeletal Radiology.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Prendergast is deeply involved in medical education and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the American Board of Radiology. Her practice at University Radiology Group serves the New Jersey and New York metropolitan areas, providing expert diagnostic care across multiple hospital affiliations, including Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Jersey City Medical Center.
