Nancy Prendergast, MD

Dr. Nancy Prendergast is a highly regarded radiologist with University Radiology Group, specializing in Musculoskeletal Imaging and Body MRI, and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. With more than three decades in radiology and medical education, she brings extensive clinical expertise and a strong commitment to teaching to the Global Radiology CME faculty.

Dr. Prendergast completed her undergraduate studies in Biology and medical degree at Brown University, followed by a General Surgery internship and Diagnostic Radiology residency at NYU Medical Center. She then completed dual fellowships in Body Imaging and Musculoskeletal Radiology at NYU and subsequently joined its faculty as an attending radiologist. Her clinical practice focuses on the advanced imaging of orthopedic, sports-related, joint, spine, and soft-tissue conditions, with particular expertise in high-resolution MRI. Her clinical research has included work on stress injuries in overhead athletes.

A passionate educator, Dr. Prendergast draws on her background in art and anatomy to make complex imaging concepts accessible. Her use of illustrations to demonstrate anatomy and pathology has become a distinctive and well-received part of her teaching style. She is equally dedicated to mentoring the next generation of radiologists, working with residents at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and mentoring and judging e-poster presentations for Global Radiology CME.

Her expertise has earned recognition within the radiology community, including the 2022 Resnick MSK Quiz Award at Imaging in Dublin, presented by renowned MSK radiologist Dr. Donald Resnick for excellence in case-based interpretation. She has also served as faculty for Global Radiology CME’s Imaging in Greece 2025. Dr. Prendergast is a member of the Radiological Society of North America and the American Board of Radiology.
